Dispelling 10 Popular Myths Among Pakatan Voters

Myth 1: We can always 'change it back' if we screw up.
Fact: Governments are not like underwear. You don't change them as you wish. A despot who changed the Constitution, shut down newspapers, removed High Court judges and used police to threaten and arrest people can easily do the same when you finally realise you screwed up.
Remedy: Read your history.

Myth 2: Corruption is a BN-thing.
Fact: Corruption is not exclusive to any political party. Corruption is a matter of individual integrity. For an example, a PM who squandered billions over 22 years and refuses to be investigated is even more corrupt than his enemy.
Remedy: Ask the Maharaja of Kerala to declare his assets and his kids' assets first, and marvel at how much wealth they have that didn't match their salaries.

Myth 3: You don't need academic qualification to become a Minister because it can be learnt on-the-job with advisors.
Fact: Any government is only as good as the guy running it. Key Ministries need highly-qualified Ministers to understand legal protocols, policy drafts, procurement requirements etc. The more-qualified the Minister, the less money wasted on advisors or consultants.
Remedy: Refer to successful Ministries in Singapore, Hong Kong, Canada, US, UK etc.

Myth 4: You must change the AG or judges to prosecute Najib, his wife and his men.
Fact: You don't need to change shit. The Justice system doesn't work on a 'preferred AG' or a 'preferred High Court judge' just to give your Malayalee PM the verdict he wants. A verdict is obtained on Evidence proven incontrovertible to a Judge in a Court of Law. Not the Court of Pakatan's Public Opinion.
Remedy: Watch more episodes of Law and Order to understand how judicial systems work.

Myth 5: Rosmah's handbags and her grandson's baby shoes can be sold to pay Hutang Negara.
Fact: No country on God's good earth auctions handbags or shoes and magically converts the proceeds to offset cumulative bank loans comprising their national debt.
Remedy: Please repeat Ekonomi Rumahtangga SPM to understand how basic economics works (and try to score A this time).

Myth 6: A country's debt can be repaid directly from a current account in a commercial bank.
Fact: Commercial banks don't audit, repatriate, recover or reschedule any financial liabilities for governments. The best they can do is channel the legally-laundered 'dedak' from uneducated depositors into a company or Trust (with crony Trustees or Office Bearers empowered to sign cheques) via third party accounts.
Remedy: Take two anti-stupid tablets and call your doctor in the morning. Drink plenty of warm water.

Myth 7: National debt can be paid through Facebook crowdfunding.
Fact: National debt is not a Nasi Kandar Pelita's bill. It's a cumulative number of Everything Malaysians owe, from your unpaid credit card bills, your car loans, your PTPTN etc. - which then determines your country's credit rating and status of Non-Performing Loans. Including insolvent government companies, bad infrastructure deals and mismanaged public funds. Bragging about RM27 million is stupid since it amounts to only 0.000027% of the total hutang. Even RM270m means jack since you still have 99.9999% unpaid hutang left.
Remedy: Please. Start evolving from Homo Habilis to Homo Erectus to Homo Sapiens.

Myth 8: Islamic agencies like JAKIM should be shut down because they catch people who khalwat and they measure the length of women's skirts.
Fact: JAKIM is an agency tasked to develop and promote Islamic understanding, propagation of faith and compliance to religious procedures and practices for Muslims. Nothing to do with khalwat or your aurat.
Remedy: Stop getting your information about Islam from stupid Internet portals. Slap yourself twice every time you think JAKIM is just a group of kopiah-wearing Mat Skodeng who will barge into your hotel whenever you bring China gher in for massage (with happy ending).

Myth 9: Rosmah is Guilty because she looks like a 'witch and a hippo'.
Fact: Even Miss Universe can be guilty. And your grandmother too. Or she may be not, even though she looks like a witch herself. Guilt or innocence is based on Evidence, not how people look.
Remedy: Take a good look in the mirror yourself before calling people witch or hippo.

Myth 10: The Agong and Sultans are 'interfering' with Mahathir's decisions.
Fact: Mahathir is not the President of the Republic of Malaysia. He is only a Prime Minister who still needs Royal consent before warming the Putrajaya throne. The Agong is empowered to take time to consider all the facts before giving Royal consent – even if that forces Mahathir to lose that ridiculous Nehru suit, dress up in Parliamentary dress and doze off on the chair at 11pm.
Remedy: Read up Buku Tatanegara SRP or Buku Moral PMR one more time. Use a good Kamus Dwibahasa.
