GEORGE TOWN: Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Opposition leader Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail will be the two main symbols of Pakatan Harapan, says DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.
Calling the move a "political reset", Lim said it was a case of retaining the good and discarding the bad.
"The two main personalities chosen for the coalition were decided at the presidential council to 'project a sense of unity' and as a symbol of going forward.
"We are looking for a political reset... a reset of the political future.
"We have Tun Mahathir at one end and Wan Azizah at the other," he said at a press conference in Komtar on Wednesday.
Responding to an article from an online portal claiming that the two had been named advisers in the Pakatan pro-tem committee, Lim said their positions would only be decided at the next meeting.
"To sit at the committee, they will have to be various office bearers. I think that has not been decided but they will be the two main symbols of Pakatan," he said.
It was reported that Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, which national chairman is Dr Mahathir, had been registered as the Opposition pact's fourth member on April 20.
