Mahathir should explain what happened to RM100-200 billion of Umno's wealth. He should also show the evidence that he has returned that RM100-200 billion to Umno. And he further needs to explain why in the first place that RM100-200 billion of Umno's wealth is being held by him and not by the party.

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is at it again, lying through his teeth. In his message to the Umno branches (SEE BELOW), Mahathir has stated many half-truths and lies. The younger generation who are ignorant of the history of Mahathir and Umno would probably swallow this 'letter' wholesale. Anyway, let me correct the errors in Mahathir's 'letter'.
Walaupun saya disingkir sekali dan tinggal UMNO dua kali, saya tidak pernah menyertai parti lain.
Yes, Dr Mahathir has been sacked and/or left Umno a number of times in the past. However, as he said, he never 'joined' another party. But that is only because if he joins another party then he would be barred from rejoining Umno (and he only merajuk but wants to rejoin Umno later once he gets what he wants). And joining here means to fill in the form and sign up as a member of the party plus pay the RM1.00 (or RM2.00) fees.
Mahathir, however, did join other parties (as in join the gang where no forms need to be filled in or signed and fees paid). And he joined these parties, which were all enemies of Umno, to attack Umno. In fact, from 2006-2008 he even campaigned against Umno and told Malaysians to punish Umno by voting for the opposition.
And in the 2008 general election Malaysians did just that, which was at the behest of Mahathir.
So the word 'menyertai' or 'join' is merely a technicality here and an issue of semantics. PAS has one million registered members. However, there are another one million members of PAS who have never filled in the form or paid their membership fees. But they are still PAS members with or without the form.
DAP, as well, has only a few registered members. But there are ten times more non-registered members who still consider themselves as members of DAP even though no form has been filled in and signed or membership fees paid.
Anyway, what is the mere RM1.00 membership fee when the 'unregistered members' donate millions to DAP?
So, yes, Mahathir did not 'join' (as in fill in a form) the opposition when he left or was sacked from Umno. But he did join them nevertheless. And, today, no one will deny that Mahathir is thede facto Opposition Leader.
Saya tetap setia kepada UMNO. Saya sayang UMNO bukan kerana nama-nya UMNO tetapi kerana perjuangannya untuk bangsa, agama dan negara.
Yes, and Mahathir demonstrated this in 2006-2008 by asking Malaysians to punish Umno by voting opposition. And what he is doing today is going to make Malaysians vote opposition again in 2018.
If that is how Mahathir loves Umno I fear what will happen if he ever hates Umno.
Tidak ada Perdana Menteri terdahulu yang menjadikan UMNO sebagai benteng untuk pertahankan diri, tidak Dato Onn, tidak Tunku Abdul Rahman, tidak Tun Razak, tidak Tun Hussein.
What Mahathir failed to mention is that Onn Jaafar left Umno to start another party (and never returned to Umno) while Tunku Abdul Rahman and Tun Hussein Onn never joined Umno Baru and died outside Umno because they regarded Umno Baru as 'parti Mahathir' and not the original Umno that was formed in 1946.
Hence these ex-Umno leaders and Prime Ministers of Malaysia regarded Umno Baru as Mahathir's benteng untuk pertahankan diri — the very thing that Mahathir said the other Umno leaders before him did not do (and which Mahathir alleges Najib is doing). In short, Tunku Abdul Rahman and Hussein Onn (plus hundreds of other Umno leaders) accused Mahathir of precisely what he is accusing Najib of.
Pemimpin-pemimpin yang masih ada dalam UMNO kebanyakannya berada kerana kepentingan diri, kerana takut kepada Najib, kerana dapat nikmat dari Najib.
Yes, unfortunately that has been the Umno culture since 1981 when Mahathir took over as party President cum Prime Minister. And that is why HALF of Umno (yes, HALF of Umno) turned against him in 1987.
Mahathir had turned Umno into his personal party and he used money and threats to keep the members in line. Some of those who opposed him were even declared bankrupt. He also used the Internal Security Act on Umno leaders who spoke out against him. One of those is today the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia.
If, today, Najib is guilty of these 'crimes', as Mahathir alleges, it is because 30 years ago Mahathir introduced this system and culture into Umno. Hence Mahathir is merely a victim of his own creation. As they say, what goes around comes around, or those who live by the sword die by the sword.
Mereka tidak peduli akan skandal kewangan yang melibat Najib, akan wang berbillion yang ada dalam akaun bank Najib. Sesungguhnya Perdana Menteri Malaysia tidak boleh miliki wang berbillion atau terima wang sebegitu banyak.
In 1988, when Umno was deregistered, the party faced a lot of financial difficulties. That was because Umno's assets were all frozen and the banks were suing many Umno branches and divisions. When the 1990 general election came, Umno had no money and it had to go begging for donations from rich towkays and businessmen.
Of course, the donations were not free. Umno had to grant a lot of concessions, businesses and contracts — privatisation, quotas, permits, etc., included — to these businessmen. And that was when Umno was turned from a political party into a corporate entity.
Yes, 1988 to 1990 was the turning point for Umno. That was when Mahathir decided that unless Umno had billions (or tens of billions) to its name, then the future was going to be tough going.
It was also decided that no longer must Umno hold all its wealth in the name of the party. From then on Umno must use trustees, nominees and proxies. And almost 30 years ago it was decided that the Umno President, Deputy President, Treasurer, etc., would hold in their personal names Umno's cash, assets and investments.
So what is Mahathir talking about? The RM2.6 billion cash that Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak is or was holding in his personal bank account is what was agreed back in 1988-1990. The Umno President, Deputy President, Treasurer, etc., are supposed to act as Umno's trustees, nominees and proxies.
In fact, Mahathir is still holding an estimated RM100-200 billion of Umno's wealth as trustee. Maybe Mahathir should return that RM100-200 billion to Umno and then talk about the RM2.6 billion that Najib held in his personal bank account.
Lim Kit Siang, Lim Guan Eng, Anwar Ibrahim, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and the hundreds of other opposition leaders all know this. Remember when Lim Kit Siang went to court to try to obtain an injunction against UEM back in 1988? This was because UEM was one of Umno's many proxies or nominees. So they all know why the RM2.6 billion was banked into Najib's personal bank account and not Umno's bank account. It is the system that Mahathir introduced in 1988.
They are only pretending they do not know so that they can make an issue of the RM2.6 billion. And Malaysians are swallowing this lie — hook, line and sinker. This shows how stupid Malaysians are to be easily conned by this 'Najib stole RM2.6 billion' lie.
The rest of what Mahathir said are mere rhetoric, insinuations, slander, conjecture, and so on. If Mahathir really has any evidence to back up his claims then why does he not produce them? He makes allegations and then asks the accused to prove his innocence.
Mahathir should explain what happened to RM100-200 billion of Umno's wealth. He should also show the evidence that he has returned that RM100-200 billion to Umno. And he further needs to explain why in the first place that RM100-200 billion of Umno's wealth is being held by him and not by the party.
And don't tell me that I need to prove that Mahathir is holding RM100-200 billion of Umno's wealth. According to the new 'rules of the game', the accused needs to prove innocence and not the accuser prove guilt.

SURAT KEPADA AHLI-AHLI CAWANGAN UMNO
Saudara-saudari sekalian,
Assalamualaikum,
Izinkan saya menerangkan sedikit berkenaan keputusan saya untuk keluar dari UMNO. Berbanding dengan pemimpin-pemimpin "UMNO" yang ada sekarang, saya lebih lama berada dalam UMNO. Walaupun saya disingkir sekali dan tinggal UMNO dua kali, saya tidak pernah menyertai parti lain. Saya tetap setia kepada UMNO. Saya sayang UMNO bukan kerana nama-nya UMNO tetapi kerana perjuangannya untuk bangsa, agama dan negara.
Hari ini "UMNO" tidak lagi berjuang kerana bangsa, agama dan negara. Hari ini perjuangan "UMNO" terhad kepada pengekalan Dato' Sri Najib sebagai Perdana Menteri. Tidak ada Perdana Menteri terdahulu yang menjadikan UMNO sebagai benteng untuk pertahankan diri, tidak Dato Onn, tidak Tunku Abdul Rahman, tidak Tun Razak, tidak Tun Hussein. Saya juga tidak menggunakan UMNO untuk mempertahankan diri. Bahkan saya, seperti Tunku, rela meletak jawatan.
Oleh kerana perjuangan UMNO sudah bertukar, maka pertubuhan ini bukan lagi UMNO. Ia sudah jadi pertubuhan lain. Pemimpin-pemimpin yang masih ada dalam UMNO kebanyakannya berada kerana kepentingan diri, kerana takut kepada Najib, kerana dapat nikmat dari Najib. Mereka tidak peduli akan skandal kewangan yang melibat Najib, akan wang berbillion yang ada dalam akaun bank Najib. Sesungguhnya Perdana Menteri Malaysia tidak boleh miliki wang berbillion atau terima wang sebegitu banyak.
Dalam perjuangan kita perlu menentukan sasaran utama kita. Sasaran kita ialah Najib kerana dia merosakkan imej negara, menjadikan negara yang terkenal didunia sebagai mempunyai amalan rasuah tertinggi.
Kita lihat di Timur Tengah orang Islam yang anggap orang Yahudi adalah musuh mereka yang sebenar tetapi mereka lebih utamakan permusuhan sesama mereka sehingga mereka berperang sesama sendiri. Akhirnya Israel tepuk tangan melihat orang Islam membuat kerja mereka. Di Malaysia hari ini bukan parti lawan yang menjadi musuh utama tetapi Najib, kerana Najib merosakkan parti sehingga hampir kalah PRU 13. Parti lawan tidak boleh kalahkan kita. Tetapi Najib boleh.
Najib sudah menjadikan UMNO sebagai parti miliknya sendiri. Malangnya kepimpinan Najib melemahkan parti. UMNO tetap kalah PRU 14 jika dipimpin oleh Najib. Adanya parti lawan sejak merdeka tidak pernah menghapuskan sokongan rakyat kepada UMNO sehinggalah Najib memimpin UMNO. Prestasinya lebih buruk dari Abdullah.
Yang menimbul masalah dan kepincangan dalam negara ialah Najib. Hutang negara meningkat sebanyak lebih dari 50 billion Ringgit kerana 1MDB. Sebilangan besar dari wang ini sudah hilang. Untuk menampung wang yang hilang ini, Najib menjual tanah Kerajaan yang dibeli dengan harga RM60/- satu kaki persegi kepada Tabung Haji dengan harga RM3500/-.
Tiba-tiba dilaporkan Najib mempunyai wang sebanyak RM2.6 billion dalam akaun peribadinya di Ambank. Juga wang sebanyak RM42 juta dari SRC ada bersama. Dakwaan kononnya semua wang ini adalah hadiah dari orang Arab tidak masuk akal. Perdana Menteri Malaysia tidak harus terima wang yang sebegitu banyak dari sesiapa pun.
Pemerintahan Najib kejam. Siapa yang menegurnya disingkir dari parti, dibuang jawatan, ditangkap dan dihadapkan ke mahkamah. Undang-undang baru dibuat untuk memberi kuasa kepada Kerajaan Najib memasuk dalam tahanan siapa sahaja tanpa dibicara.
Kerana semua ini saya keluar dari parti pimpinan Najib dan sebagai rakyat negara tercinta ini saya akan sambut desakan ramai rakyat untuk membuat sesuatu bagi mengembali pemerintahan yang adil ke negara ini.
Saya menjemput ahli-ahli UMNO yang sayang kepada perjuangan asal UMNO membantu saya untuk menyelamatkan parti dan negara ini. Kemukakanlah usul undi tidak percaya terhadap Najib sebagai Presiden parti dan Perdana Menteri di mesyuarat-mesyuarat cawangan UMNO. Usulkan juga agar pemilihan parti tidak ditangguhkan, dan dilaksanakan pada tahun ini juga
Kita tidak boleh tunggu PRU 14 kerana UMNO yang dipimpin oleh Najib tetap akan kalah. Sekali UMNO kalah ia tidak dapat dipulih semula.
